ABC in the US aren’t commenting on either report at the moment.
The FX Network has picked up Australia’s very own Wilfred for a US adaptation. The comedy, which has had two seasons on SBS, has won a pilot to be produced by David Zuckerman (Family Guy). Star Jason Gann will continue his role as the mangy dog who talks to the boyfriend of his owner, but can’t be heard by anybody else. Co-creator Adam Zwar, who also played Adam in the Australian series, was elated by the news. “I’m just happy that Wilfred’s gone to a nice home and some really creative people are looking after him. I hope he gets paid lots of money and pulls a lot of Californian bitches,” he said.
The Inquisition by award-winning filmmakers Rachel Landers and Dylan Blowen brings together the major players in the Commission for the first time in twelve years. It has been said that since the First Fleet arrived Australians have been unsure whether they were on the side of the convicts or the guards. From that moment allegations of corruption, and the Australian police force have never been far apart. By the 1970s many began to suspect that the 16,000 member New South Wales police force – the 3rd largest in the world – was rotten with entrenched corruption. There was talk of high-level police protecting drug dealers and trafficking drugs themselves; of police involved in assault, in verballing, in fabricating evidence… even in murder. In 1994 an extraordinary confluence of events allowed a now legendary team of corruption fighters to take them on. To do so they unleashed an investigative model so extreme, it seemed to challenge the very boundaries of justice itself. Paramount has debuted the final full-length trailer for M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender. Noah Ringer stars as Aang and he’s joined by Dev Patel, Jackson Rathbone, Nicola Peltz, Shaun Toub, and many others. This is such an epic and unbelievably awesome trailer. I really can’t wait to see this now! The effects look fantastic and the story looks great, coming in 2D & 3D. Even if you’ve never heard of the TV series before, you’ll probably love this trailer, so definitely check it out! Trailer for Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender
The Thursday night show, attempting to provide a more family-friendly format up against the later Footy Show on Nine, has had five episodes go to air but has failed to gather an audience in the AFL-dominated Melbourne market. The show debuted to a Melbourne audience of 326,000 but this week’s show attracted only 161,000. Despite the disappointing ratings, programming chief Tim Worner defended the program: “There are some great things happening in the show that we love.” “Anecdotally from players, clubs and viewers alike – there is a great deal of warmth for the show.” On ANZAC Day, Sunday, April 25, 7TWO commemorates the occasion with a 12 hour marathon from 6am – 6pm of the documentary series called ANZAC - Australians at War in World War Two. Introduced by Bug Tingwell, the outstanding documentary series that follows the fortunes of Australian and New Zealand troops through World War 2. See all 26 episodes back to back on ANZAC day. The complete series is also available on DVD if you don’t get a chance to see it this ANZAC Day. Channel Nine have now launched their video “catch up” site called FIXPlay. They’ll also be having a back catalogue of older stuff for viewing such as McLeod’s Daughters & Sea Patrol as well as a host of UK stuff like Doctor Who, Little Britain, The Mighty Boosh, Spooks, Torchwood, Day of the Triffids, Hotel Babylon, Primeval, Black Books, Father Ted & Shameless. That now means Nine has come into line with all the other networks who have been offering a similar service for a while. But I must say, if all those older titles come into being, then they are going much further it seems. Anyhow………..here’s a list of the sites. iView – ABC’s catch-up channel. PLUS7 – Seven’s catch-up channel. Ten Video – Ten’s catch-up channel. FixPlay – Nine’s Catch-up channel. SBS Video – SBS’s Catch-up channel.
Festival goers attended the event to enjoy a weekend of live music, shows and games. On Friday evening, Parkes Police attended the venue after they received a large number of noise complaints made by the public. At 11.30pm the Lachlan LAC Licensing Police attended the venue and found alleged breaches of licensing laws with regard to intoxication. The licensee subsequently closed the licensed venue. The festival was moved to the campsite which was no more than 200m away and was moved into town for the following nights.
The Steven Spielberg-produced mini-series will slot into Seven’s Wednesday night line-up at 8.30pm, with the first episode on 14th April. The Pacific has been created by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks and features some of Australia’s best known actors including Gary Sweet, Zoe Carides, Claire van der Boom, Bill Hunter, Isabel Lucas and Anna Torv. Adding to this list are some of this country’s up and coming stars, including Joshua Helman, Leon Ford, Tom Budge, Dylan Young and Kate Bell.
Without revealing any of the content the channel will carry, Mott said that the new channel will avoid repeating shows which have debut on Ten. Recently the Nine Network’s general entertainment channel GO! has gone down the path of re-transmitting Nine’s original programming with repeats of “V” and classic episodes of Top Gear as well as the very successful The Big Bang Theory. Mott said, “It will have equal weighting with Ten. In the digital environment, why wouldn’t you?” He makes a fair point with more and more Australian’s switching to digital television and the gradual phase out of the analogue signal starting this year in Mildura, Victoria. Australia’s television broadcasting will become completely digital by 2013, when the average viewer flicks through channels they place equal importance on digital channels as they do with main channels. |
